Jamaicans Campbell-Brown and Carter take 100m dashes in Zagreb

Jamaican Olympic relay champion Nesta Carter and compatriot Veronica Campbell-Brown, the Olympic 200 gold medalist won the men's and women's100-metre dashes at the Zagreb Grand Prix on Tuesday.

Carter, the lead off runner on the Jamaican world record breaking team, clocked 10.23, while Campbell-Brown posted in 11.10 to take the women's race.

Meanwhile, American Dawn Harper, the unexpected 100-meter hurdles gold medal at the Olympics in Beijing, won in 12.65 seconds, beating Jamaican Delloreen Ennis-London by 0.05 seconds.

Priscilla Lopes-Schliep of Canada, who took bronze at the games, was third in 12.86, and silver medalist Sally McLellan of Australia was fourth.

In the men's race Cuba's Dayron Robles won the 110 hurdles in Zagreb for the third time in a row.

Robles, the Olympic champ and world record-holder, finished in 13.20 seconds, 0.46 faster than Richard Phillips of Jamaica. Petr Swoboda of the Czech Republic was third.

"Everything I did for the past few seasons was paid off this year," Robles said.

Cuba's Yipsi Moreno, a Beijing silver medalist and two-time world champion, threw a personal-best 251 feet, 4 inches in the hammer. Martina Danisova-Hrasnova of Slovakia was second. Olympic gold medalist Aksana Miankova withdrew a day earlier, citing an unspecified illness.

In the high jump, Olympic silver medalist Blanka Vlasic of Croatia won at 6-8¼ after Russia's Anna Chicherova, who won the Olympic bronze, withdrew at the same height.

In the women's discus, Olympic silver medalist Yarelis Barrios of Cuba had a toss of 213-2 to beat Olympic champ Stephanie Brown-Trafton of the United States.
