World Championships 400 metres hurdles champion Kerron Clement is backing USA to sweep the medal in the event at the Beijing Olympics.

Clement will be joined by rivals Bershawn Jackson and Angelo Taylor and he sees the sweep a strong possibility.

"It's definitely a possibility. I have confidence in it," Clement said. "I'm feeling pretty well and really excited that I'm running fast."

Clement has the fastest time in the world this year at 47.79 seconds with Jackson next at 48.15. But it was Jackson who won the 400 hurdles final at the US Olympic trials.

"Bershawn beat me at the trials. That's cool. Second place doesn't really matter in the trials. What matters is the Olympics and what happens there."

Clement knows from experience. Last year he was second to James Carter at the US championships but won the world title.

"Even though I didn't win the trials, I'm still a marked man because I'm the defending world champion," Clement said.

"Everybody is coming for me."

Leading that charge is Jackson, who has a calm attitude even though his dreams of stardom could be fulfilled with Olympic gold.

"There's nothing to worry about. I've trained all year. I want to have fun and stay relaxed," Jackson said.

"My main objective is to be on the podium and bring home a medal."
