Powell wins, but Bolt looked the better

Despite coming out champion in an exciting match up with fellow countryman Usain Bolt at the DN Galan Super Grand Prix 2008 meeting in Stockholm, Sweden on Tuesday, Asafa Powell has to acknowledge that the World record holder definitely looked the better of the two.

The two Jamaicans, competing for bragging rights before the Olympics in Beijing next month, featured in a pre-Games clash in Stockholm, but it was clear that neither were running flat out.

Powell rocketed from the blocks to take an early 3m lead on the field, but saw his lead reeled in by the lanky Bolt, who looked certain to overtake the former record holder before easing up and looking over at his fellow countryman before the line.

Nonetheless, Powell recorded the confidence boosting victory just before Beijing, and he was delighted to get one over the most popular sprinter in the world this summer.

Powell crossed the line in 9.88-seconds to beat the world record holder, who stopped the clock at 9.89secs.

The last time they met, Bolt defeated Powell at the Jamaican Championships in June -- almost a month after running 9.72 to replace the world championships bronze medal winner as the world record holder.

After their race in Stockholm, Bolt was the first to congratulate his friend and teammate with a hug.
