Campbell-Brown, Smith named Jamaica’s best

Olympic and World champion Veronica Campbell-Brown and world silver medalist Maurice Smith were nominated Jamaica’s 2007 track and field athletes of the year on Wednesday.

Campbell-Brown, who won the women’s 100-metre title in Osaka, Japan last summer captured the women’s crown, while Smith, the 2007 world silver medalist in the decathlon nipped out world record holder Asafa Powell for the men’s award.

Glen Mills, the former coach Raymond Stewart, a former national 100m record holder who now coaches Usain Bolt, the new national record holder in the 200m dash, was named coach of the year.
