Tyson Gay eases through his 200m heat

Tyson Gay started his hunt for a sprint double this morning with a heat winning performance during the 4th day of competition at the World track and field championships in Osaka.

The American who on Sunday upset world record holder Asafa Powell to win the men’s 100m, clocked a well relax 20.46 to take his heat and more on to this tonight’s quarter-finals.

Also making it through to the next round were his fellow American teammates Wallace Spearmon, who finished third to Jamaica’s Marvin Anderson (20.43) in the final heat in 20.45and Rodney Martin, who took his heat in 20.44.

The fastest qualifier of the morning was Greek sprinter Anast?sios Go?sis, who posted 20.11 to edge Usain Bolt of Jamaica, at 20.12.
