Despite a poor start Jamaica’s Olympic champion Veronica Campbell with the help of photo-finish won her first world title after finishing fast to win the women’s 100-metre at the World Track and Field Championships in Osaka.

In a close women’s race at the championships, Campbell clocked 11.01 to avenged her defeat to American Lauryn Williams, who ran an excellent race for second place – her time too was 11.01.

Another American Carmelita Jeter finished fast to win the bronze in a personal best of 11.02, with Torri Edwards failing to take a medal in 11.05.
