Powell will run relay leg at Lausanne Super Grand Prix

10 July 2007

Asafa Powell is set to make a return to track tonight when he competes as a member of the Jamaican 4?100 relay team at the 2007 edition of the Athletissima track meet - an IAAF Super Grand Prix event in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The Commonwealth Games champion who has been out since running 10.04 seconds to win the Jamaica title last month is reportedly healing rapidly and is ready to test his health after missing the Golden League meeting in Paris.

Powell, who set the world record of 9.77 in 2005, prior to equaling it twice last season, will join World silver medallist Michael Frater, Ainsley Waugh and Nesta Cater as they go up against Olympic champion Great Britain who shares the world-leading time of 38.30 with Arkansas Alums in the event.

The Jamaican will also run in the Rome leg of the Golden League meeting, but is not in the billing for a share of the $1 Million Dollar jackpot, after skipping the Paris meet last Friday.
