Liu Xiang targets own world-record

Chinese Olympic champion Xiang Liu, who is also the 110-meter hurdles world record holder, has targeted the upcoming World Championships in Japan and the 2008 Beijing Olympics on home soil as the perfect place to lower his own world mark.

The hurdler who is set the world mark of 12.88 seconds at an IAAF Grand Prix meeting in Switzerland, last year, made the comments on Wednesday at a promotion for his sponsor, Amway, in Beijing.

Liu is the hot favourite to win the event this summer is Osaka, believes if he can get the push he needs, he will improve the record soon.

The 23-year-old hurdler has a world-leading 12.92-secs, which he accomplished in New York two weekends ago.
