The outdoor track and field season is in full swing, with top names in the sport already having competed in at least two meets, so the real question is, where is Bahamian national record holder, and World and Olympic Champion, Tonique Williams-Darling?

Well, don't push the panic button just yet because the Bahamian national record holder in the 400 metres is expected to open her season in grand style this weekend at the Jamaica International Invitational, set for Saturday in Kingston, Jamaica.

Williams-Darling along with Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie, Derrick Atkins, Chris Brown, Christine Amertil, Chandra Sturrup and a few other Bahamians are just a small number of the top-ranked athletes in the world that have confirmed their participation at the weekend meet. The weekend meet will mark Williams-Darling's return to the track, after she closed her season early last year. She along with Amertil will face-off with the world-leader in the event, Sanya Richards.

The Jamaican-born Ameri-can is also ranked number one in the world in the women's 400m.

Also set to compete in the event are Jamaicans Lorraine Fenton and Sherika Williams.

Eyes will also be on the women's 200m Jamaican Olympic gold medallist Veronica Campbell, who is slated to compete in that event, along with fellow Jamaican Sherone Simpson, American World Champion in the 100m Lauryn Williams, and her training partner, Bahamian Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie.

This will be Ferguson-McKenzie's first 200m for the season.

It is not certain if any of the following athletes will opt to compete in both the sprint races, but it was confirmed that triple Olympic gold medallist, American Marion Jones, has entered her name for the 100m.

The Jamaican Interna-tional Invitational will give track and field enthusiasts a first-hand peek at some of the match-ups expected to take place at the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) World Outdoor Championships, set to take place in August in Osaka, Japan.
