Greene going for gold in Beijing

Former Olympic 100m champion Maurice Greene has vowed to challenge for gold again at the Beijing games in 2008.

The American, 32, continues his latest comeback at Friday's Millrose Games after a year recuperating from injury.

And the three-time 100m world champion and former 100m world record-holder said: "Yes, I will be (in Beijing)."

"That will be my last go around. Beijing will be it. I will win my gold medal, and then I can walk away from this sport forever."

Greene will come up against a new dominance in sprint racing at the Games in world record holder Asafa Powell.

But he insists he can compete at the top level again, adding: "I can be even better than I was because I believe in myself."

"My ability's never gone anywhere, my drive is coming back to what it used to be, and that's the most important thing."

"I don't know (Asafa Powell) but his performances are great. But when the competition is not to his level is when he runs best."

"When he has people who can run down the track with him he doesn't run as well as he normally would."
