Marion Jones continues her comeback with Reebok Grand Prix win

4 June 2006

The former Olympic champion took 100m victory in 11.06 seconds ahead of Veronica Campbell (11.11), Torri Edwards (11.23) and Lauryn Williams (11.44).

Her time matched her fastest mark of the year, which she first ran in her opening meet in Mexico last month, and also ensured that she could celebrate her third win in as many races she has contested this year on her comeback.

After her race, she waved and smiled to the crowd as she did a postrace interview.

''Overall, I felt pretty good,'' Jones said. "The conditions weren't great, but any time you get a victory, it's another step.''

Jones said she will run a 200-meter race in Europe before running in the 100 and 200 at the U.S. nationals in Indianapolis this month.
