Hey everyone,

My name is Ben and I am fortunate enough to be the Head of Hurdles coaching at Brunel University in London.

I've joined the forum just to get a few new perspectives on training and also hopefully be of some assistance if I can ever. I mainly coach 110m hurdlers and 100-200m runners but also work with a couple of very talented high jumpers.

Cheers

Ben

Hello Ben,

Good to have you with us. I'll use this post as my intro since I just took over the coaching duties for sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers at my local high school in Washington State this season. I was a sprinter/long jumper in college but haven't been involved in the sport for twenty years. I'm using the program of the previous coach but would be grateful to hear any innovative ideas anyone may have to improve the performance of my athletes (either for this season or next). For example, what do you think of polymetrics as a training technique? Also, any advice you might have regarding high and intermediate hurdles would be of great value to me, since I have almost no knowlege in that area. I'm looking forward to your posts.

Thanks,

Jim
