The seasons are changing fast here. Though we have had the most glorious week, it was terribly cold the week before.

Though this is just about perfect training weather, I am starting to think already about winter. Some stuff I'll just do indoors, and I'll still run, but I know I tend to slack in the cold months.

What do you do to keep your fitness up?

I got into running a round about way. It was my cross-training for cycling and then I decided that I wasn't a bad swimming, so might as well do Tri's.

I have always found swimming to be a great winter training. You use your whole body so it keeps you lean, but definitely has a lot less impact. When I lived in CO, I would also do cross country skiing every other week, which if you can, is great cross training!

I have a membership at the local YMCA and use the pool about three times a week. I also do some mild weight training in the gym they have and use the rowers and cycles, too. We get really cold winters and lots of snow so it's limiting to outside activities. I go cross country skiing some, too, with some friends of mine.

I've not trained for swimming in years, that's a good idea. I agree that its a wonderful, full body work out, I just haven't leaned on it hard enough in the past.
