Ok, so bottled spring water isn't much different than tap water depending on the aquifer, but what about tap versus distilled. Which is better for drinking and hydrating the body after a long run?

Tap water. I am sure that both will hydrate, but distilled contains none of the minerals that tap water does. Unfortunately I would guess that you not only would rob your body of these, but risk messing up your electrolytes? Wouldn't distilled water have a greater osmotic potential than tap water?
So I'd say a lot of distilled could even be dangerous.

I always find distilled water to taste weird. I doubt it would ruin your electrolyte balance unless you were only drinking distilled water and working your butt off.

Distilled water is gross, too me. I like a sports drink after a running. it replenishes you better then normal water. Water is great to stay hydrated, but you'll need something to replace everything else besides water that you lsot.

Just the first link that I found on the topic. Sure you'd be ok for a short time, but its definitely not for drinking long term. There are way too many potential problems. http://www.4optimallife.com/Distilled-Waters-Danger-To-Health.html

I don't trust anything on a site that sells something to fix the supposed problems from your actions, lol. And 2/5 of the noted sources are the authors. I don't care if you are the top person in your field you need to convince someone else to corroborate your knowledge and results otherwise its not very believable in the scientific community.
After some digging about it would seem that should you live in an area where there is no potable water a distiller could make the water safe to drink (along with possible boiling for microbial issues). There is nothing in ground water that cannot be replaced by supplementation and diet.
