Those of you who may not pay particular attention to javelin may not have realized that the renowned Breaux Greer was competing as an American Gladiator this season on NBC (known as Hurricane). He ignored a doctor's recommendadtion after an MRI and competed in the Trials despite an injured shoulder. He did not place initially but upon an appeal he made it to the team based on his having reached the USATF A standard.

I think this is really insane. In a good way of course. Greer is a real character all in all and the fact that he was on the Gladiators and will still be able to go to the Olympics should bring about some real attention to lesser known T&F events.

I've read some pretty intense discussions about him and going to the games, apparently he said something to the effect of going along to have fun which ticked some people off. But all in all he's not displacing anyone to go so its not too big of a deal and there's a chance he can compete and do some good.
