I'm a sprinter (200m, 400m) and jumper and I way about 153 lbs. Should I be trying to gain muscle for my events? What should my Diet be?

Gaining muscle would also have you gain weight, which would be harder to lug around. You also have to be careful as really large muscles can slow you down.
If your speeds are ok I wouldn't focus on gaining weight personally. Just try to eat healthy foods.

You didn't mention your height. I know it doesn't make all the difference but it would be further information.
Richie is right, you really don't want to bulk up as a runner and have to make all the weight accelerate quickly. I'm not a fan of weight gaining diets either, changing your weight workout can do most of what any sprinter would need.

If you gain weight that means eating a lot of protein and working out in a way that would help you bulk up. That is not going to help track performance, far from it.

If you really feel the need to gain weight (or lose fat) work on gaining lean muscle using something less bulky than regular weight lifting like pilates. Regular bulking up is definitely going to do more harm than good.

I am 5'10 153 lbs. My times are 22.2(200m) and 49.8 (400m).

nahh, don't worry about bulking up, try improving your strength if you want to lift weights. Doing heavy weights, low reps will increase your strenth to bodyweight ratio, which is waht you want. Couple that with speed trainng and you wil get fast. But i do agree that weight in unnecessary areas that dont contribute to runing, like biceps, and other muscles that are ebtter for the beach will slow you down. But muscles in legs, will only slow you down, if you train them to do so: so if you decide to do slowwww reps many sets, you will bulk up and barely improve strength.
