I am just curious as to why there is a difference between the male (110m) and female (100m) hurdle distances. Is it a matter of pace length that causes the difference?

It very easily could be. Alot of military drills seem to alot based on what a male and female can achieve in the same ammount of time. Since males tend to be taller than females it would make sense to be based on average stride.

Yeah, that's what I meant by pace-I actually meant stride. I cannot see any other reason for it really, other than for the fact that there is a pace, and a
'beat' to running from the one hurdle to the next.

Your notion of pacing seems logical. Most of the lengths are based on age and average height/ability so this would fit in perfectly. I tried to Google it and only came up with femminist links ;)
