Does anybody know how fast the average 100m runner runs in the 40? Like Asafa Powell, he always gets off to a great start. Has it ever been done under 4 seconds?

You know honestly I haven't done this since sports day in junior school where the parents were made to get involved. They always did the dash, not us.

You know in football how you get timed in the 40? You must not play football I guess.

from what i understand the first 40 yards of a sprinters race is the slowest part of the whole race and im pretty sure its never been ran in anything less 4.1 by anyone

Overcoming inertia from the starting line takes the most power and time, so the first 40 yards are the slowest. However, the record is 4.17.

Stick, you're right I don't play football, never have. I never liked it. I played rugby in school when it was offered, and took to track and field when it wasn't.
