I have a 14 stride run up and I jump off of my left leg; My style is like a hang, but I've never been taught how to do it because my coach only focuses on pole vaulting. How should I lift my arms and at what point of the jump should I do so?

Your one arm will naturally be rising with your stride as you take off. The other you bring round and up behind you, with the arms being at the highest at the peak height of your jump. As you start to come down again you bring your arms down too. It's a matter of actions and reactions-bring your arms down forcefully (like a breast stroke) will give you a tiny bit of life, and in theory keep you in the air that tiny bit longer.

If you are using a hang technique your arms can rotate around. In other jumpers the lead arm comes forward, and then the opposite arm follows. Ending up together over head. It depends on what is comfortable for you.

As you pass the peak of your jump you begin to circle your arms down. This arm motion helps you to lift your legs. It also, forces your upper body to rotate forward just slightly so that you don't fall backwards when you land.
