I would imagine that most of the people here have a need to have water with them at some point, when training. Do you carry it in plastic bottles?

In which case have you heard recently about all the concerns with chemicals called BPAs in the plastic, which even at room temperature can leach into the water? I have started carrying my water now in a metal bottle-a Swiss made, non-leaching bottle. I don't like the idea of the chemicals at all!

If you are drinking water from anything other than the spring in your backyard you're getting some chemicals and minerals and such anyway. tap water is treated, bottled isn't always too different itself, and depending on how distilled water is made it could have different properties.

Not all polycarbonate bottles release bpas, only certain ones were found to be on the list. I find this to be yet another mass hysteria inducing study. I haven't sprouted horns from drinking out of mine yet, so I probably won't just be chucking it just yet.

I've always thought some plastic bottles make the water taste like plastic so its not too surprising to me. I've never put the cash into the metal ones though as I worry about denting them and wasting the bottle since they are so expensive.

I hadn't heard about it till I read here, but now I am a little concerned. It doesn't seem just like fear tactics from what I have been reading-the science behind it is very real.

I need to read more.

Here's the link I found for my mom. Its from Nalgene's actual website and has links to the other important data. Nalgene is actually phasing out polycarb with bpa although they carry other lines than the polycarb.

Thats a really good link, I didn't realize nalgene made so many types of bottles. At least they will be switching, even if they determine BPA may be safe after all. I wonder if the new bottles will be equivalent to the old ones?
