I have been suffering from palpitations for about a year when training or racing. It most of the time is ok, but sometimes it makes me dizzy. I have seen a cardiologist who has said that it isn't bad enough to need treatment unless I want it.

So what kind of side effects could I expect from beta blockers? Or would you just try and keep going without?

I have no idea what the side effects are from beta blockers, I would suggest you ask the cardiologist or your regular doctor. Most drugs these days have side effects specific to themselves not just the type of drug.

I would try and do without depending on how bad it is, but I have no idea what your definition of bad its nor what the treatment might cost or if you have healthcare to cover it...you know?

Well, it's NHS so it wouldn't cost me much, if anything. I am still in Uni, and whilst in full time education you can still get all prescriptions filled for free on the NHS.

I am told that they are relatively safe, but honestly I try and avoid chemicals whenever I can. This really bothers me at times though, but the problem is that because it only happens when training I have basically been told to stop training. I don't want to do that.
