I prefer to run and jump without socks. I think that it is way more comfortable. Especially jumping because of the sand and I hate it in my socks. Does anyone else run without socks? People on my team think I am weird.

No, I always wear socks. They are seamless socks at that so that they don't run. I carry spares, just in case they get full of sand or get grit in them that I can't easily get out because they get sweaty.
My training shoes rub at the back without socks. So good cotton, absorbent socks are a must.

I used to wear no socks with my shoes all summer long, but when I am running or competing I always do. While I don't normally get blisters I don't want to chance it either.

I worry about getting blisters without socks to absorb the sweat as well. So long as the socks fit well (and seamless is nice too) and the shoes fit as well it shouldn't be too uncomfortable to wear socks while competing.

The other thing would be to get a good woolen sock. They not only absorb sweat better than other materials, but they are excellent at protecting from blisters. The only trouble is that you need to find a nice thin wool sock.

I normally just wear a regular cotton or cotton blend sock when I am training or competing. I've tried a couple different types and never really was sold on one in particular so I normally wear whatever is clean.
