Used with an athlete once. In a wide open field facility, the athlete was having to control the device excessively to counter lateral movements. And this was for 60 meters!
Pulley system works best for us.;)

I've never really believed in using fancy equipment to help train. While it is meant to help you train better it almost seems like more trouble than its worth. At some point you have to draw the line between natural ability and forcing yourself to do something that will never happen.

Very good points. However in some programs these gadgets can become necessary to either maintain progression or jump start a region where the athlete needs to go. In our case, a utilization factor of 3% of the total training year is all we seem to need. And of course, several external conditions will play a bigger part on how these devices are utilized.
But in point, I agree with your thoughts on the subject.

As far as fancy equipment goes I went to a poor high school and it was not till my last year that they put in a new track. We just had the basics and it is nice because now I know I can train with just my body and a buddy.
