Does having an afro make u run slower

Aerodynamically speaking it does make you slower. Depending on how close you are to winning it may or may not make a difference if you cut it off. You could also wear a swimmer's cap if you want to keep your afro and still have the speed advantage of a bare head.

I am not so sure I would cut it off. I think I would get it braided. That way if you want something different you can do it, you do not have to wait for it to all grow out again.

I know from experience how slowly black hair grows, so unless your hair is significantly different from the norm I would not under any circumstances cut it. Braids work just fine, and so do the caps. It wouldn't have to be a rubber cap either, just start out with a bandana and see if that helps, tied real tight.
