I always looked up to Jones as I was growing up. I was so happy that she was not convicted of steroid use at fiirst. Then she admitted to using them. I was so upset.
How do you choose someone to look up to these days in sports. It seems like everyone is getting in trouble for using body altering drugs. I am so upset and do not want to fall in love with another runner to have them be a steroid user as well.

I find that looking up to local sports figures not national ones is more beneficial. There is so much pressure placed on national sports figures to get and keep endorsements, always do better, and to be perfect they are bound to crack or have issues. Someone in the level above me or a couple levels above me is much more likely to still work for a living and not be under so much pressure and scrutiny.

My mom tried to tell me that also but she ran with Prefontaine when she went to school in Oregon. It is nice to hear that advice from someone else. I agree it is just sad about Marion Jones.
